Harvey - Harvey, a male pointer mix, was brought to the shelter accompanied by his companion, Ruth, who is also a pointer mix, following the death of their owner. Harvey is very traumatized and frightened in the shelter, and will not approach strangers. He shows no signs of aggression, just fear, but he will allow himself to be touched and petted. Harvey, Ruth, and their owner lived alone on a large piece of property, and the two dogs apparently never got to meet strangers, so they don't know how to react to people they don't know. Ruth is more open to strangers than Harvey, but they are bonded to one another, and they draw strength and confidence from each other. I truly feel that they will relax and "warm up" to people once they are shown compassion and gentleness by new owner(s). These two are probably around eight years old, so they are not young, but they do appear healthy and are heartworm negative, so they should have some good quality years left to live. Harvey weighs forty-two pounds. If you are interested in the two older sweethearts, please call the shelter at (256)771-7889 for more information, or go to https://limestonepets.org/ to submit online adoption applications for either or both of them.
